Introduction
The All Star Football Officials
Association is one of the largest
associations of football officials in the state of
Georgia. With
over 160 members, we officiate football throughout the
south Georgia.
Our association is
registered with the Georgia High School
Association (GHSA) and Georgia Independent
Schools Association (GISA), which are the governing bodies over most high
school and junior high school sports in the State of Georgia. They
work directly with the National Federation of
High Schools (NFHS), the governing
body of the most public school associations in the United States.
Every year, before the season, we make agreements with
schools throughout south Georgia to provide football officials for their varsity
and sub-varsity football games. We then assign officials to work
these games. Officials are paid twice a
year around mid-season and at the end of the
season.

Meetings
Regular association
meetings will start in July and continue through the early
part of November.
These meetings are held
according to the meeting schedule. The meetings
usually last about 90 minutes. They are conducted
at Darton College, unless
announced otherwise.
Members are required to attend
these regular meetings unless there are satellite meetings in place of
the regular meetings. These meetings are designed for your benefit
and are an invaluable source of education and training for officials at
all levels.

Game Assignments
Varsity games are assigned by
the Executive Secretary. We work our games
through the game crew concept. The referee
(crew chief) assembles a crew that works
together throughout the year. New
officials are usually picked up by the crew to
work as the electric clock operator for the
first few years and gains experience working
sub-varsity games.
Sub-varsity games are assigned by satellite secretaries.
These men coordinate the sub-varsity games in different areas of the
south Georgia.
You will be contacted by these men to schedule games. There are always games available.
Don't be afraid to contact them again and again because
changes often occur by the hour, once the season starts. Most sub-varsity
games are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (Start times range
from 4 to 5:30 PM).
In addition, the majority of the time you will be working
2 games each time. You will be asked to work games in a variety of
locations. This gets you good exposure to more officials and coaches.
Granted it is not as convenient, but will help your career in the long
run.
Pee Wee games are not directly associated with our
association,
but are typically assigned by members of our association who work with the
various leagues. These games provide a great training ground for new
officials.
